Exclusive site visit: VAST

Inside Vast: engineering the first generation of commercial space stations.

On June 12th, 2026, a delegation led by the FACC California had the privilege of visiting Vast in Long Beach, the company building next-generation space systems.

They toured the Mission Control room, already used to support Haven Demo in orbit, before stepping into the Haven‑1 production area and the clean room, where the first station module is going through integration ahead of its planned launch with SpaceX. They also discovered training and habitat-focused modules that simulate life and work inside a station, from mission prep to dedicated sleeping cabins.

Their visit came just after Vast’s announcement at the Choose France Summit of a new European headquarters in Paris and two French astronaut missions in 2027, with Thomas Pesquet headed to the International Space Station and Arnaud Prost on the first crewed mission to Haven‑1. This strengthens the links between California and France in the emerging commercial space sector.
