Building EdTech for Kids Without Profiling

Can we build AI for children without building profiles of children?

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how we learn, work and interact with technology. As these tools increasingly enter children’s lives, an important question emerges: can we build technology that adapts to and supports children without continuously profiling them?

Kiddos AI is taking a different approach.

Kiddos is a growing educational ecosystem designed around a simple principle: technology should expand a child’s world, not replace it.

Its applications span reading, interactive learning, educational play, music and real-world discovery. Across the ecosystem, the objective is not to keep children engaged with a screen for as long as possible, but to use technology purposefully: to encourage curiosity, imagination, learning and exploration.

Privacy is part of that approach by design. Kiddos does not require children to create accounts and is being built without behavioral tracking or persistent child profiles. Rather than continuously observing a child to determine what should come next, the approach puts parents and educators back at the center of those decisions.

The same philosophy extends beyond privacy.

Children learn everywhere: at home, at school, through activities and within their communities. Technology is only one part of that environment. Kiddos is therefore being developed as an ecosystem that can complement those different experiences rather than attempting to replace them.

The content itself is designed with educational intent. Kiddos Books, for example, combines stories with opportunities to discover new places, animals, science, culture, nature and other subjects. Multilingual experiences are also an important part of the ecosystem, helping the same content cross languages and cultures.

Behind Kiddos AI is also an engineering question: what should educational technology look like in an AI-driven world if we begin with the interests of children, rather than with the collection of data about them?

There may not be one answer. Kiddos is putting one possible approach into practice: technology that helps children play, imagine, learn and move, while keeping the humans and the real world around them firmly in the picture.
