Balt Expands U.S. Presence with New Manufacturing Facility in Irvine

On May 12th, in Irvine, our member Balt opened its second U.S. manufacturing facility and FACC California was delighted to be part of this important milestone.

Founded in 1977, Balt is a pioneer in neurovascular devices treating strokes and brain aneurysms, and continues to strengthen its footprint in the United States.

The scale?
$400M investment commitment
450 employees already on site
700 additional jobs targeted by 2030
30% of global revenues already generated in the U.S.

Why Irvine? The region's medtech ecosystem traces back decades, early manufacturers needed specialized tissue sourcing, which pulled in technicians, suppliers, and companies. Layer by layer, it compounded into one of the world's most concentrated medtech clusters. Today, the talent base is so deep that companies like Balt rarely need to recruit outside the region.

The ribbon cutting ceremony gathered city, county, congressional, and French diplomatic representatives.

This is what long-term french-american investment looks like in practice.
