Yesterday, we had the privilege of stepping inside Zoox’s headquarters in Foster City for an exclusive visit. An opportunity few get to experience.
From an in-depth discussion on the vision and technology to a roundtable with Ron Thaniel and his team, and a live ride in their fully autonomous robotaxi, we explored what it truly takes to bring next-generation mobility from concept to real-world deployment.
Zoox has a bold, end-to-end approach to autonomy, with purpose-built vehicles designed entirely around security and passenger experience. The result? A seamless, intuitive ride that redefines comfort and safety in urban transport.
Words from some of our attendees:
“The vehicle is purpose built from the ground up, with no steering wheel and no pedals, and passengers facing each other in a calm, symmetrical cabin. The ride feels less like a car and more like a sleek train gliding through the city. Worth noting too that it's American made 🇺🇸, designed and built locally in California.”
“What these teams are building is truly redefining urban mobility: safer, smoother, more sustainable, and designed around the comfort of future users like all of us. The technology is extremely impressive, and the passenger experience is remarkably comfortable and intuitive.”
“The robotaxi ride experience? A smile is worth a thousand words. Just close your eyes and imagine floating in your favorite city…in a lounge.”
Experiences like this are exactly what the FACC California aims to offer: unique access, meaningful exchanges, and a front-row seat to the innovations shaping tomorrow.
